Bearcast Vol. 4 - Kay Suzuki

Bearcast Vol. 4 - Kay Suzuki by Bearcast

Ooo wee! We're back for some more with a special guest! A friend of ours from London, a big record collector and a lover for soulful sounds. The bear is very happy to have Kay Suzuki on board who just released a bomb debut album 'consciousness' on Round in motion. Definitely worth checking out! He's a specialist in funk who plays it all really well, mixing up the soulful and jazzy beats endlessly. We thought it'd be nice to get away from the chill vibes for a minute and go a lil bit more groovy which should be suited for this lovely holiday season. Hope ya'll have had a great Christmas and are stuffed with good food, and are around great people! If Leo's Shunshipp, Stevie Wonder, Barry White, First Choice, and Gary Byrd mean anything to you, then this is the mix for you! Have a wonderful holiday wherever you are, and whatever you get up to! Love from the Haribo Bear! x

Bearcast Vol. 3 - Bearight's Cinematic Choices & Such

Bearcast Vol. 3 - Bearight's Cinematic Choices & Such by Bearcast

So I hope you enjoyed the previous bearcasts! So far it's been a pleasure to feature Cardboard Boss and Arnaud from Input Selector on the podcast series. I've got more great mixes lined up so keep checking this space!

So I've been reading a bit about podcasts, dj-mixes, and what makes a 'good dj/mix' and some say 'a good dj should almost instinctively act on the techniques of mixing, beat matching, and so on; in order to have as much brain capacity to choose the next track, and to read the crowd. Others say harmonious mixing between 2 records is a must. Here at bearcast, let's forget about that for now (even though Arnaud and Cardboard demonstrated the above). I've gathered some of my favourite songs inspired from the films I watched over the years and made this mix. Cinematic moments if you like. Of course I put a little thought into the chronology of the songs, but please pay no attention to the mixes, as this volume of bearcast is just all about the music!

Enjoy!

Track List.

Nicholas Jaar - mini calcutta
Henry Mancini - Lujon
Shuggie Otis - Aht Uh Mi Hed

Bearcast Vol. 2 - Arnaud Input Selector

Bearcast Vol. 2 - Arnaud Input Selector by Bearcast

There's a lot of boom boom boom going on in my flat, but actually most of the time, I'm listening to other music; more downtempo, slower grooves...from jazz, blues, funk, hip hop. There's definitely music for the home that's completely different to the music for the dance floor. So what do djs and producers listen to at home other than dance music? That's the main drive of this bearcast series. We wanna know. For our second instalment, the main man behind electronic music webzine & podcast series Input Selector has neatly gathered some of his personal tastes from the bedroom and recorded a delicate and beautiful chilltape. Arnaud works his mixes by gathering tracks that are composed of dreamy guitars and watered down melodies which glide across the beats organically. It's consistent and elegant. If Nujabes or Ripperton means anything to you, then this is the mix for you. Dim your lights, skin one up, and enjoy this mix. Perfect for the working environment, or even just to chill to.

Bearcast Vol. 1 - Cardboard Boss

Bearcast Vol. 1 - Cardboard Boss by Bearcast

Welcome to the Bearcast! To kick off this podcast, we have a great mix that I received long time ago from a close friend, beautifully crafted by an unknown figure in the scene who goes by the name Cardboard Boss; A collective of London based DJs, producers, visual artists, from the information that I can gather. Since I've ever known anything about mix tapes, this is by far the best mix that I've ever heard, hands down. A choo-choo chain of soulful, nostalgic, mysterious, and warm vibes flowing throughout the mix. So many great edits, remixes, and seamless mixes...The bangers just keep coming!
